Promoting Rural Pact in Malta

The Koperattiva Produtturi taz-Zebbug Limited has proposed to the Government the endorsement of the Rural Pact in order to follow the Strategy being adoptd by EU Member States to ensure that all rural areas benefit from the same level of development and support as urban areas.

Dear Mr. Camilleri,
The Cooperative has been an active member of the EU Rural Pact, a strategy created by the EU to ensure full integration of the rural areas in every country.
The Coordinating Body of the Rural Pact is inviting Member States to endorse the Rural Pact with full details being provided on this weblink:

During the AgriFish meeting held on the 11th December, 2025 the Dutch Government endorsed the Rural Pact as published on the EU Website:
In order for Malta to be active on the Rural Pact we are proposing the following:
i. an effort is made to incorporate the Rural Pact Strategy within the Malta Government Vision 2025;
ii. a dedicated stand be set up during the Agri-Fair 2026 by the Ministry, and we can also organise a public session on the topic
iii. The Ministry commences the process to Endorse the Rural Pact which could be done before Agri-Fair 2026
iv. The Cooperative is officially appointed as the main representative to the Rural Pact so that we can take an active role in future meetings.

Dear Mr. Magro,
Thank you for your email and for sharing your proposal regarding the endorsement of the EU Rural Pact. It is indeed commendable to see the proactive involvement of the Cooperative in such an important initiative.
Given that this is a matter concerning the EU, we will need to discuss it with the relevant Ministry to determine the best course of action. Rest assured, we will thoroughly consider your suggestions. We appreciate your dedication to this cause and your eagerness to see Malta take an active role in the Rural Pact. We will communicate our decision once we have had the necessary discussions and reached a conclusion.
